Hip hop legend dies aged 55 after tragic cancer battle
The hip-hop scene is in mourning after it was announced one half of the iconic duo Wee Papa Girl Rappers, Samantha Lawrence, has died at the age of 55 following a cancer battle
DJ Dave Pearce shared his memories of Samantha, saying, "Sam was part of a defining and groundbreaking era of trailblazing British female rappers who against the odds conquered the UK charts alongside the likes of Cookie Crew. After releasing two albums with Jive Records, the group parted ways in early 1991, though they briefly reunited as The Wee Papas but without much fanfare.
