Hear Sufjan Stevens’ ’Death With Dignity’ Demo From ‘Carrie & Lowell’ Reissue
Sufjan Stevens has shared the demo for the 'Carrie & Lowell' opener "Death With Dignity" ahead of the 10th anniversary reissue of that 2015 album.
“Death With Dignity” is one of five demos that appears on the two-disc reissue, joining Carrie & Lowell tracks “Should Have Known Better,” “Eugene,” and “The Only Thing,” as well as the previously released early rendition of “ Mystery of Love ” off the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack. Carrie & Lowell (10th Anniversary Edition), out May 30, will also boast a 40-page art book containing four generations’ worth of family photos, images captured by the musician, and drawings reflecting the weighted themes present across the album. “There are new corners to explore, photographic realizing of moments previously only lyrically painted, direct reflection from the album’s creator, subtly different weight on certain syllables that speak to Sufjan’s mind right before he shared it with the world.”
