Hear Bleachers Put a Ghostly Spin on Classic Show Tune ‘Almost Like Being in Love’

Bleachers take on the classic show tune "Almost Like Being in Love" for the final track in the Jack Antonoff-curated 'The New Look' soundtrack.

The tenth and season finale episode of the Apple TV+ series — about the career of fashion designer Christian Dior and his clashes with Coco Chanel amid the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Paris — hit the streaming service Wednesday, and with it Antonoff and Bleachers’ ghostly rendition of the show tune that, after featuring in the 1947 musical Brigadoon, was popularized by artists like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Shirley Bassey and Seventies soft rocker Michael Johnson. Previous tracks include Lana Del Rey’s rendition of Irving Berlin’s “ Blue Skies,” the 1975’s version of the Bing Crosby-popularized “ Now Is the Hour,” Florence and the Machine updating Vera Lynn’s “ White Cliffs of Dover,” Bartees Strange covering “ You Always Hurt the Ones You Love,” and more. Beabadoobee, Nick Cave, Perfume Genius, Joy Oladokun, and Sam Dew also contributed to the soundtrack, which marks Antonoff’s first release via his own Shadow of the City imprint on Dirty Hit.
