Harvey Weinstein Requests Hospital Transfer to Escape ‘Mistreatment’ at Rikers Island

Harvey Weinstein's lawyer has requested the disgraced producer be transferred to Bellevue Hospital from Rikers Island during sexual assault retrial.

On Wednesday, legal representatives for the disgraced producer submitted an emergency petition for him to be housed at Bellevue Hospital for the duration of the retrial, citing “mistreatment” and “deplorable conditions” at the New York prison. “I have continuously and repeatedly raised these issues with attorneys representing the city agencies involved and nothing has been done to remedy the situation,” Ansari said of the reasoning behind filing the emergency motion in court. Weinstein has also filed a claim against the City of New York and its relevant agencies because the treatment he has received on Rikers Island has been horrific and he intends to aggressively pursue his lawsuit,” the attorney added.
