Harvey Weinstein Convicted of Sexual Assault in Mixed Verdict

One of the three charges Weinstein faced in the appeal of his 2020 conviction.

He was found guilty of a first-degree criminal sexual act, for forcibly performing oral sex on Miriam “Mimi” Haley, a former Project Runway producer. Weinstein was initially convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020 in New York, but his case was successfully appealed in 2024, leading to a new trial when he was recharged by the Manhattan DA in 2025. The appeals court wrote that “it is an abuse of judicial discretion to permit untested allegations of nothing more than bad behavior that destroys a defendant’s character but sheds no light on their credibility as related to the criminal charges lodged against them.” The 2025 trial was a result of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg opting to retry Weinstein but with just three accusers.
