Harvey Weinstein Accuser Kaja Sokola: ‘The Devastating Part Was Not the Trial Itself — It Was the Betrayal of My Sister’

Kaja Sokola, who testified against Harvey Weinstein in his New York retrial, discusses his acquittal on her charge and her sister's betrayal in court.

The defense, however, repeatedly argued during the trial that Kaja never met Weinstein in 2002, pointing to a lack of evidence — such as writings or photographs — showing the two together that year. Although Weinstein was acquitted of the charge related to Sokola, he was convicted of one count of committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree, based on allegations by former TV production assistant Miriam Haley. Outside the courthouse, following the declaration of a mistrial on Weinstein’s remaining count, Aidala referenced Sokola, who had made a statement the previous day about the initial partial verdict.
