Emilia Perez, the genre-bending crime musical, which centers around a beefy tattooed Mexican cartel boss who undergoes gender confirmation surgery, is an unlikely success story for Netflix, which has been streaming the film since November. The movie has been quietly adding to its plaudits for months, starting with the huge splash it made at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and the first Best Actress Award for an ensemble. The Rhode Beauty founder hit the like button on the post featuring a close up of the Only Murders in the Building star's ring and a photo of Benny embracing her while Selena giggles with her left hand over her mouth.
