Gwendoline Christie Got Hypnotized So She Wouldn’t Spoil Severance
You might even say she severed herself.
As revealed in the most recent episode, “ Who Is Alive?,” Christie plays Lorne, the somewhat paranoid but seemingly compassionate leader of the Department of Mammalian Nurturability. As an actress, Christie wanted to know as much as she could about Lumon’s goats, and series creator Dan Erickson was willing to share information that helped her create a backstory for Lorne. Executive producer and director Ben Stiller, who hadn’t heard the story of Christie’s hypnosis until I interviewed him about the episode, seemed intrigued by the idea.
