In October 2017, at a time when Hollywood was on the verge of being upended amid the #MeToo movement, veteran actor Anthony Rapp came forward with claims that Spacey made sexual advances at a party in New York in 1986 when he was 14. In addition to being cleared in the Rapp case, Spacey was acquitted of all nine charges of sexual assault by a British jury in 2023, bringing an end to a years-long battle that derailed his once illustrious Hollywood career.
