Green Day Comedy Film Inspired by Band’s Early Days Is in the Works
'New Years Rev' will follow three best friends on a trip to open for Green Day in the film inspired by the band's early days.
The film project written and directed by Lee Kirk will be a coming-of-age movie, which follows three friends in a band as they travel to Los Angeles thinking they’ll open for Green Day at a New Year’s Eve concert. Actors Mason Thames ( The Black Phone), Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust will play the three besties on their “rowdy and mischievous” journey to L.A, which is inspired by Green Day’s “years of living in a tour van,” according to the film’s logline. “With incredible guidance from Green Day, New Years Rev tells the story of young artists chasing a dream — long nights, endless miles, and the electrifying rush of the stage fueling their journey,” said Kroft.
