Great North Run participant, 29, dies in hospital after collapsing while taking part in the race
A 29-year-old man has sadly died after taking part in this year's Great North Run at the weekend. The participant passed away in hospital on Sunday after collapsing on the course.

It is thought that the race was brought to a stop as a result of the tragic incident, which occurred towards the end of the 13.1 mile route. Among the some 60, 000 runners at this year's event, which started in 1981, were the cast of the Traitors, Dr Alex George, ex-England footballer Steph Houghton and Sara Davies.
