Grandaddy Plot First Tour in 20 Years to Celebrate ‘The Sophtware Slump’

California indie favorites Grandaddy have announced their first North American tour in 20 years to celebrate their 2000 album 'The Sophtware Slump.'

Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle wrote and recorded much of The Sophtware Slump alone with — as legend has it — music equipment he had to return to the electronics store before the refund window expired. Arriving in May 2000, the album perfectly captured the inflection point of the early internet era as digital and human worlds, past and present, began to intersect. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2020, Lytle even joked about predicting Google Earth on the song, “Miner at the Dial-a-View,” which tells the story of a laborer digging for ore on a distant planet.
