Grammy nominated X Factor favourite set to release debut album 16 years after starring on the ITV competition
In the years since she has written tracks for Beverley Knight and Rita Ora, earning a Grammy nomination for the her song, New York Raining.
The singer appeared on series five of the show in 2008, alongside the likes of Alexandra Burke, JLS and Eoghan Quigg, and was the favourite to win (pictured, right, with Dermot O'Leary and Ruth Lorenzo, left) Laura had been the favourite to win the talent contest, but was booted out after judges Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell failed to save her. Organisers of an online petition backing Laura at the time urged Ofcom to start an investigation into voting procedures on the show.
