Golden Globes Snubs & Surprises: ‘Wicked’ Director Jon M. Chu, Meryl Streep, ‘Fallout’ & ‘Kneecap’

Back on CBS again under a new-ish deal, the once easily parodied Globes was covering almost all its bases today with its nominations

With nominations announced by Mindy Kaling and a slightly named challenged Morris Chestnut very early Monday, the formerly HFPA-run ceremony waved a wand of aspiration in front of the likes of Hacks, Cate Blanchett, Slow Horses ‘ Gary Oldman, Emilia Perez, Jodie Foster, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking’ s stars, The Bear& more. Blitz – A Steve McQueen directed film about the Nazis’ bombardment of London during World War II and the toll it took on individuals, families and a nation … oh yeah and its stars Saoirse Ronan(who was doubled snubbed today actually), and nothing. Kneecap – Coming off a knees up Sundance debut earlier this year, acclaim all round, a hot tour and a sweep yesterday of the British Independent Film Awards, the Rich Peppiatt helmed comedy following the real life west Belfast hip-hop trio and their quest to save their mother tongue was well poised to bring a truly raucous ride back to the Globes.
