Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is crowned king of the box office as it surpasses the competition for an $80 million opening weekend


Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was the undisputed king of the box office the film's first week in theaters. The sci-fi thriller defeated the competition in a celluloid battle for domination.

The comedic fantasy starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Ernie Hudson, along with the new generation of ghost fighters McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard was able to once again save the world from a second ice age and brought the heat earning $15.7 million. The fact-based drama starring Mark Wahlberg as an adventure racer who adopts a stray dog and takes the pooch along with him during competition lapped up $2.4 million in ticket sales. The spooky tale focuses on a late night talk show host who tries to boost his ratings by having a young girl who becomes possessed by Satan as a guest scared up $2.2 million its second week in theaters
