Glee star Dot-Marie Jones explains concern over Coach Beiste abuse storyline: 'I didn't want to let anybody down'
'Glee' star Dot-Marie Jones says she was concerned about the Coach Beiste domestic abuse storyline, because she 'didn't want to let anybody down.'
While catching up with her former costars Jenna Ushkowitz(Tina) and Kevin McHale(Artie) on the latest episode of their Glee rewatch podcast And That's What You Really Missed, Jones discussed her experience playing Coach Beiste in the Fox musical comedy, notably plots around domestic violence and coming out as a trans man. In a third season episode called "Choke," which aired in 2012, Beiste — then identifying as a woman named Shannon — confides to Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester and NeNe Leakes' Roz Washington about experiencing abuse at the hands of husband Cooter (Eric Bruskotter).
