Gia Coppola to Be Celebrated by Filming Italy Sardegna Festival Held on Mediterranean Island (EXCLUSIVE)

Gia Coppola will be celebrated by Italy's Filming Italy Sardegna Festival held on the island of Sardinia.

In a statement Tiziana Rocca – the marketing guru and current Taormina Film Festival chief who also heads the event in the Italian island of Sardinia – praised Coppola as a fresh voice in international auteur cinema who has been able to depict “with a unique and deep look the contradictions of the human soul and the transformations of contemporary society.” “Her presence is a source of great pride for our festival and a tangible sign of the increasingly strong link between American cinema and our country,” Rocca added. As previously announced, Filming Italy Sardegna, which will run on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia June 19-22, will feature the Italian premieres of Steven Soderbergh’s horror flick “Presence,” starring Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan; Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani’s stylish spy story “Reflection in a Dead Diamond” starring Italian icon Fabio Testi, and U.S. martial arts film “Karate Kid: Legends,” directed by Jonathan Entwistle, among other titles.
