As well as being home to everyone from Princess Margaret to Diana, Princess of Wales, Kensington Palace has earnt an odd reputation as a "prison" for children

The Prince and Princess of Wales spent many years living at Kensington Palace before relocating to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor - although they still use it as their official office. The rules were dubbed as 'the Kensington System' and they forbade the young princess from reading popular books, spending any time alone without her tutor or governesses or walking down the stairs without holding an adult's hand.
