Gene Hackman's Dog Did Not Die of Hantavirus, May Have Starved to Death


The cause of death for Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa’s dog is still unknown, but it did not die of the virus that killed Arakawa

The Australian Kelpie was found in her crate, possibly put there by the couple as she recovered from a recent procedure, according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza. The investigation into the mysterious deaths of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, it’s clear that while authorities are uncovering some answers surrounding their passing — there are plenty of unknowns. “The Santa Fe County Animal Control Division worked with family to ensure the safety of the two dogs,” a press release from late last month read.
