Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa were found dead at their Santa Fe home on February 27, with his wife dying from Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome.

On Feb. 26, 2025, the former Hollywood star was found deceased inside his Sanfe Fe home alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa and family dog. Pathologists suggested that Gene and his wife were dead for at least 10 days before they were found as their bodies showed signs of "mummification." Some of his most famous works included his performances in The Royal Tenenbaums, The French Connection, Night Moves, Superman, Hoosiers, among many others.
