Newsom told Politico that the model for the new podcast will be Bill Maher’s show, which features a mix of personalities on both sides of the political divide. He suggested that the new podcast would be a way to “change the conversation,” but also to break through in a format that proved hugely influential in the 2024 presidential election. But with his focus on the devastating California wildfires and the need for the state to get recovery assistance from the Trump administration, Newsom has been more muted in his criticism.
