Gavin Newsom To Convene A Special Session Of State Legislature “To Protect California Values” Amid Incoming Donald Trump Administration
The California governor will seek an increase in legal resources.
The special session, to start on Dec. 2, will focus on boosting state legal resources and funding to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action and immigrant families, Newsom’s office said in a statement. That includes state litigation as well as federal lawsuits “aimed at undermining California’s laws and policies.” In a statement, Newsom said, “The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack — and we won’t sit idle.
