Gavin Newsom Says Archewell Foundation 'Delinquent' Claims Were ‘Over-Hyped’

During his Tuesday, May 14, speech on California’s efforts to transform the mental health system, Governor Gavin Newsom came to the Archewell Foundation’s defense, noting, “I just want folks to know, not only are they in compliance, it was a technical paperwork issue that was wildly over-hyped. Earlier this week, California Attorney General Rob Bonta deemed Archewell “delinquent” in an official letter because the organization did not submit its registration fees and annual reports on time. “An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds,” the letter read.
