Gavin and Stacey star Laura Aikman has revealed that her family only found out about her surprise return to the show when they watched the final episode on Christmas Day
Sonia, who is Neil "Smithy" Smith's girlfriend, played by James Corden, makes a crucial comeback in the final Christmas special during a scene set in a John Lewis shop where they're sorting out their wedding gift registry. She shared a photo of the cast with her picture missing (Image: lauraikman/instagram)She captioned the post with "the moment my family realise Sonia is ruining Christmas again" and added that she takes non-disclosure agreements very seriously. The episode ended on a cliff-hanger with Vanessa "Nessa" Jenkins, played by Ruth Jones, confessing her love for Smithy, leaving fans waiting five years to find out his response.
