Games Recovery Lifts China’s Tencent to 47% Quarterly Profit Increase


China’s Tencent increased net profits by 47% in the quarter to September, driven by both its domestic and international games businesses.

Sometimes described as the world’s largest games company in revenue terms, China’s Tencent increased its net profits by 47% in the three months from July to September. It launched “Delta Force,” the company’s first multi-platform first person shooter, which achieved high average user daily time spent and retention rates. Its still-lucrative social music entertainment activities (karaoke and live streaming) reported barely changed subscription numbers, but suffered a 25% cut in per user revenue.
