Health chiefs have given a worrying update on Covid in the UK as cases are on the rise and a new variant is spreading
Dr Jamie Lopez Bernal, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA, stated: "COVID-19 is continuing to circulate, with a slight increase in hospitalisations over the past two weeks. Although isolation rules are no longer compulsory, the NHS recommends staying at home and avoiding contact with others for five days after taking your test. A high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature) A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste Shortness of breath Feeling tired or exhausted An aching body A headache A sore throat A blocked or runny nose Loss of appetite Diarrhoea Feeling sick or being sick.
