Frontman of iconic 90s group dies aged 51 - weeks after terminal cancer diagnosis
Sad news for the Scottish music scene broke over the weekend, as DJ Kid announced the death of Ultra-Sonic's Mallorca Lee, who'd been diagnosed with terminal cancer only weeks ago
"During this incredibly upsetting time, my deepest sympathy goes out to Maria, Mallorca's wife, his children Angel and Oceano and his extended family and friends. Mallorca, who created the aforementioned techno outfit in 1991 and enjoyed success with the tunes Annihilating Rhythm and Obsession, previously apologised to his legion of fans over on Facebook for keeping the health news on the down-low. He was just 51 years old (Image: @mallorcalee/Instagram)Following DJ Kid's update, fellow musician Paul Rayner described it as a "deeply sad day for the Scottish dance music scene", while radio presenter Max Di Toro wrote: "Mallorca, we only spent a short time together and played one gig but your infectious personality was the reason why we kept in touch.
