The 41-year-old former footballer had forged a new career as a presenter and is best-known for hosting The One Show andMatch of the Day.Following a complaint regarding text messages sent to a female staff member the BBC launched an inquiry. The formal statement released earlier this month said: "We remain concerned about the potential for inappropriate workplace behaviour, particularly in creative and editorial environments. "That said, the Board will commission an independent review that will make recommendations on practical steps that could strengthen a workplace culture in line with BBC Values."
