Former Gladiator Sharron Davies recalls horrifically painful injury which left her needing nine rounds of surgery and knee reconstruction after falling from show's gruelling game
Sharron Davies has recalled the horrifically painful injuries she suffered while competing as a Gladiator in the mid-nineties.
Former competitive swimmer Sharron, 61, appeared as Amazon in the fourth series of the first reboot of the show on Sky One in 1995 but a knee injury forced her to withdraw from the programme a year later. According to BBC ratings, an average audience of 6million, with a peak of 6.4million, tuned in to see how the contenders fared against the new superhuman Gladiators- Fury, Apollo, Fire, Legend, Dynamite, Giant, Sabre, Steel, Electro, Phantom, Athena, Nitro, Diamond and Viper. The first of the 11-episodes found viewers take a trip down memory lane, with some getting very nostalgic, calling for other popular shows to come back, including Blind Date and Noel's House Party.
