Former Child Star, Who Played Cora in Titanic, Reveals Why This Heartbreaking Scene Was Cut from Film

Alex Owens-Sarno, who played the little girl Cora in 'Titanic,' explains why her drowning scene was cut from the film and what it was like to work with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Titanic was her first-ever acting job, and the then 8-year-old actress booked it after attending an open casting call for extras. She also joked that her grandmother would brag about her appearance in the film, telling anyone who’d listen, “This is my baby girl, and she was in Titanic.” She added that as a preteen, she was “probably kind of a brat about” knowing DiCaprio. Owens-Sarno, who was raised in San Diego, noted that after the movie, she got an agent and went out on auditions but didn’t find success as a child star.
