Football legend dead after suffering head injury - as tributes paid to English star who lit up the game


Gary Shaw, who was a key part of Aston Villa's 1982 European Cup-winning side, has tragically passed away at the age of 63 after suffering a head injury from a fall.

In 1981, he played a crucial role in Villa's League Championship victory, scoring 18 goals and earning the title of PFA Young Player of the Year. Whjle former Villa player Brian Little paid tribute to Gary on X, saying: "Gave Shawsy my number 8 shirt when I retired.. he took it to another level....R.I.P. Villa fans have also taken to social media to pay their respects, with one posting: "RIP to a true club legend and one of our own, the great Gary Shaw.
