FKA Twigs Isn’t ‘Sad Anymore’ — and Her New Music Will Prove It

FKA Twigs told her fans that she’s fallen ‘in love with techno’ while teasing her ‘deep’ new music

Twigs responded to the ban with an Instagram post, writing that she didn’t “see the ‘stereotypical sexual object’ that they have labeled me.” Instead, she believed the image showed “a beautiful, strong woman of color whose incredible body has overcome more pain than you can imagine.” The fashion label unveiled the steamy ad on Wednesday, March 15, explaining in a press release that the project is “rooted in unadulterated confidence” and channels “the true character of each talent.” […] “I am proud of my physicality and hold the art I create with my vessel to the standards of women like Josephine Baker, Eartha Kitt and Grace Jones,” she added, noting that those icons “broke down barriers of what it looks like to be empowered and harness a unique embodied sensuality.”
