Five-second test shows if it's too hot to walk your dog during heatwave


As the UK braces for the hottest weather of the year so far, dog owners are being warned about the dangers of walking their pets in the heat - and a quick test can help protect their pooches

Intense heat can be lethal for dogs, who can succumb to fatal heatstroke within minutes when exposed to extreme temperatures. Echoing David's advice, a Moon Valley Canine Training rep in sunny Northern California gives the same paw-protective guidance: "Place the back of your hand on the pavement. The RSPCA lists out symptoms like frantic panting, extreme salivation, seeming sluggish or unsteady, collapsing, or even being sick.
