Filmmaker behind Heartbreak High and Blue Murder passes away at 77 after battle with Parkinson's disease
He wrote and directed the 1993 movie The Heartbreak Kid, which spawned the popular spin off TV series Heartbreak High.
Across his 50 year career, he directed, produced and wrote for several iconic Australian TV shows, including Police Rescue, Blue Murder and Wildside. In 1996 he won an Australian Film Institute award for Best Achievement in Direction in a TV Drama for his work on the popular miniseries Blue Murder. 'I'd long marvelled at Mike’s talent as a film maker and his ability for capturing truth in performance and to achieve startlingly realistic visual styles,' he said in a statement.
