Fat Joe is an honorary uncle to friend and collaborator Ashanti's first child with husband Nelly.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of him hosting the BET Hip Hop Awards 2024, the Terror Squad rapper, 54, calls his collaborator and friend “the best mom.” Fat Joe and Ashanti have put out songs like 2002’s “What’s Luv?” and remained close friends throughout the years. I think one of the reasons why she never got destroyed by this business is because she's always had her mother, her sisters, around her father,” the “Lean Back” rapper says.
