The show, which also stars Samantha Morton and Minnie Driver, has received an unprecedented 100 per cent rating from critics on the movie review site Rotten Tomatoes. Bafta winner Ms Morton plays Italian noblewoman Catherine de Medici who married French King Henry II and ruled France from 1547 to 1559. The presenter, who also has a 12-year-old daughter with second wife Celia Walden, previously praised his son for getting the role, writing on social media: 'Congrats Stanley Morgan – no need to prep for this character...'
