Fans Choose Yeisy Rojas’ ‘Inmigrante y Qué?’ as Their Favorite New Latin Music of the Week

Yeisy Rojas' "Inmigrante y Qué?" has topped Billboard’s latest new Latin music poll published on Friday, April 11.

The Cuban singer’s poignant single — a fusion of rumba cubana, funk, salsa and hip-hop — generated more than 65% of the vote, beating out other new releases including Silvestre Dangond and Carín León’s “Cosas Sencillas,” Rauw Alejandro’s “Carita Linda” and Christian Nodal’s “Amé.” Servando & Florentino’s “No Te Vayas” with Maelo Ruiz came in second place with 28% of the votes. “‘Inmigrante y Qué?’ is a song that seeks to make visible the stories of struggle and hope of those who have had to leave their land to build a new life,” Rojas previously told Billboard Español. Rojas said she was inspired to write the song in response to the harsh policies against immigrants in the United States, which President Donald Trump implemented on day one of his new term in office.
