Italy's Fandango has taken world sales on Carlo Sironi's Berlin Generation drama 'My Summer With Irène'
“Sole,” a love story intertwined with a baby trafficking plot and commentary on Italy’s surrogacy law, went to Venice and Toronto in 2019, catching the eye of master Vittorio Taviani, who chose Sironi as his on-stage partner for Berlin’s 2020 On Transmission director-on-director talks. “Summer With Irène” is produced by Italy’s Kino Produzioni, the indie shingle that co-produced 2022 Berlin Golden Bear winner “Alcarràs,” in tandem with France’s June Films and support from RAI Cinema. Commented Fandango Sales chief Raffaella Di Giulio: “We’re sure that once again the audience, festivals and distributors will respond warmly to Carlo’s work with this bright, melancholic, summer-evoking film.”
