Part 1 of the Broadway to screen adaptation follows Elphaba (Erivo) — misunderstood because of her green skin — forging an unlikely but profound friendship with Glinda (Grande), a student with a powerful desire to be “pop-u-lar.” After a chance encounter with the Wizard of Oz, the duo’s relationship lands at a crossroad as their lives begin to take very different paths. What starts off as a normal Uber ride with driver Shane ( Tyler James Williams) and passenger Jaq ( Hayden Panettiere) quickly spirals into a dangerous high-speed game of cat and mouse when the pair realize they’ve spotted a car described on a recent amber alert. This noir-style mystery follows private eye Nick Bali ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt), an American expat in Greece who is hired to investigate the supposed accidental death of young shipping magnate Leo Vardakis ( Richard Madden) on the island of Crete.
