Expert explains how to get rid of fruit flies as Britain is besieged by ‘zombie-like’ pests


As the summer season draws nearer to an end, one expert has shared his tips for getting rid of fruit flies - and reveals one of the most common problems isn't actually fruit in your home

With the last of summer warmth slowly fading, Brits are being alerted to a surge in insect woes, including those pesky fruit flies that can be more than just a nuisance as they make their way inside homes more than ever. Storage guru Chris Hutton from Adams Selfstore has come to the rescue with his expert advice on how to fend off fruit fly invasions this season, as well as how to deal with any current ones. "All you need to do is mix about a shot glass full of apple cider vinegar with some washing-up liquid and place it in a container - anything with a narrow opening and a wide base is ideal."
