In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, the model and author, 34, said she felt she was going 'crazy' before doctors finally diagnosed her with mitral valve prolapse (MVP) in December.
Rachel first knew something was wrong six years ago when she started fainting, as well as struggling with shortness of breath and fatigue, both of which have made it difficult for her to play with her son Jude. But on December 20, she saw a cardiologist who performed a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) - a test that takes pictures of the heart using high frequency sound waves - and she was finally diagnosed and ordered to undergo emergency surgery. Rachel said the love she has for her husband of ten years, Rick Schirmer, and their son Jude - combined with her strong religious faith - has given her the strength to get through the past few weeks.
