NBC has announced they are developing a follow-up to their fan-favourite US sitcom The Office, set in the same universe as the Steve Carell series but featuring a new cast
The official description for the upcoming series states: "The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters." The executive production team includes Greg and Michael, plus Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant from the original UK version of the series and Howard Klein and Ben Silverman, who worked on the US sitcom. Buzz about a potential new sitcom linked to The Office started swirling in January when Greg began brainstorming ideas for a connected series, rather than a reworking of the original.
