The second season of Taylor Sheridan's 'Landman' series would pick up after Jon Hamm’s character Monty died in a shocking twist
Landman, which premiered in November 2024, is Sheridan’s newest hit series, joining the ranks of Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Lioness. Based on the “Boomtown” podcast from creator Christian Wallace, Landman introduced Billy Bob Thornton as a corporate fixer working for an oil titan ( Jon Hamm) in a West Texas-set drama with life-and-death stakes. The season finale delivered on its promise of plot twists when Hamm’s Monty was killed off while Tommy (Thornton) was named the president of M-Tex before getting kidnapped — and severely beaten — by a drug cartel leader.
