Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. isn’t one to take himself or his work too seriously and has passed some good-natured shade on his stint as Tony Stark in the past. The star noted that he played a “guy named Tony in the MCU for about 12 years,” before joking: “And then recently, that dude Chris Nolan [his Oppenheimer director] suggested I attempt an understated approach as a last-ditch effort to perhaps resurrect my dwindling credibility.” Christian Bale earned critical acclaim for his role as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy (a DC franchise), but he was less enthused about his work in the MCU.
