Eva Longoria Gave ‘John Wick’ $6 Million in Funding and Saved the Movie Less Than 24 Hours Before It Would’ve Shut Down: ‘She Came to the Rescue’

"John Wick" was at risk of shutting down production before filming started until Eva Longoria decided to invest $6 million into the film's financing.

The filmmakers and Reeve had already put their own money into “John Wick” because they believed in the project, while producer Basil Iwanyk had maxed out three of his personal credit cards to contribute his own funds to the budget. CAA was helping the team put the movie’s financing together and in a last ditch effort to save the project offered some of its actors an opportunity to invest in the film. “She was laughing going, ‘I didn’t think it was going to work,'” Stahelski remembered, while Leitch said that Longoria would later tell him that investing in “John Wick” was “the best money” she’d ever spent.
