Eurovision Song Contest 'loses 2.5million viewers' as competition is overshadowed by boycott over Israel's participation and demand for bosses to step down

Eurovision had its worst night to date after viewing figures plummeted to an all-time low and fans urged bosses in charge to step down.

The run-up to the competition was mired in controversy, with protests over Israel’s involvement, the Dutch entry being dropped following a police incident, and acts claiming they were being censored by organisers. However, the contest has now taken a disastrous turn as only 8.5 million viewers in the UK tuned in and fans urged Executive Supervisor Martin Osterdahl to step down The Swiss star, 24, who is the competition's first ever non-binary victor, left viewers stunned after smashing their trophy just moments after learning of their win before returning to the stage with a bloodied bandage around their thumb.
