Eurovision 2024: Olly Alexander and fellow finalists are seen departing hotel ahead of tonight's show - as competition is thrown into chaos hours before final

This year's competition has been thrown into chaos just hours before the finale air after Dutch contender Joost Klein, 26, was axed from the contest.

Entering with the song Europapa, a tribute to his late parents, the 26-year-old Dutch rapper and singer had qualified for the grand final on Thursday evening at the Malmo Arena venue in Sweden but will no longer be allowed to compete. This latest development has only plunged the show into further chaos, with organisers already on high alert for tonight's final, having erected a huge ring of steel barriers around the competition venue in preparation for a planned protest. There is also a heavy police presence as thousands of pro-Palestine protesters are set to descend on the Swedish city of Malmo, Sweden, where the final is taking place, to reiterate calls to ban Israeli singer Eden from competing.
