Escape To The Country's Nicki Chapman on new career move after huge brain tumour 'shock'

Nicki Chapman has had fingers in many pies over the years, and her new book focuses on her time in the music business - "looking after the Spice Girls was like herding cats"

“That was the most shocking and frightening experience of my life – even worse than being chased by an elephant on safari with the Spice Girls,” she writes in So Tell Me What You Want, the reflections of her years in the music industry. While these days TV viewers will see Nicki, 57, hosting Escape To The Country or the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, some may remember her as a judge on Popstars with Nigel Lythgoe, and on Pop Idol alongside Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman and Neil Fox. Iggy Pop and The Stooges asked for a Bob Hope impersonator and seven dwarves; Prince requested a specific coffee machine, lavender and jasmine tea, Vitamin B shots and stipulated everything be wrapped in cling film.
