The Long Island, New York-based duo, who had hit singles such as I Know You Got Soul, Paid in Full and Juice (Know the Ledge), held out hope their day is coming, as they were nominated this year for the second time. The pair - who were up for the Hall of Fame in 2012 - had a series of breakout albums in the early days of rap: 1987's Paid in Full, 1988's Follow the Leader, 1990's Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em and 1992's Don't Sweat the Technique. Other notable names who had been nominated this year, but did not get in, include solo artists such as Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, Sade and the late Sinead O'Connor, and the groups Oasis and Jane's Addiction.
