Environmental Media Assn. Impact Summit Helps Industry Move Forward in Wake of Los Angeles Fires
Envorinmental Media Association EMA Impact Summit Helps
While the EMA’s showbiz constituency has long been at the forefront of the environmental movement, from advocating for the greening of studios to speaking out against fracking and climate change, the Palisades and Eaton Fires this past January turned what for many had been a noble but oft-abstract cause into something concrete and highly personal. To address this, Levin is dedicating the entire first morning of the summit to the fires, with panels such as “Creative Loss With MOCA,” a discussion led by Daniella Pineda about artists who lost their studios, curated with the assistance of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. This year’s summit features a roster of panel moderators that includes actors Miranda Cosgrove(“Mission Unstoppable: STEM in the Spotlight”), Sosie Bacon(“Wild Horses”) and Jenna Dewan (“Hands Across Los Angeles: How a City Comes Together After a Natural Disaster”) and Variety co-editor-in-chief Cynthia Littleton (“From Crisis to Catalyst: Reimagining the Role of Archives in the Future of Film & TV”), as well as EMA board members Lance Bass of N’Sync (“Shiftposting: How to Combat Climate Misinformation on Social Media”), filmmaker Eli Roth(“Exploring the Ring of Fire”) and Drew Scott of “ Property Brothers ” (“ClientEarth/SteadFast L.A.”), who, as a licensed realtor and veteran home renovator, will be providing insights about the challenges facing fire victims as they look to rebuild.
